Everybody Budgets

Everyone has a budget, some are very detailed and others are shall we say loose and quite frankly non-existent. If you think about it, not having a budget is still a budget—zero is still a number. I don’t want to get to philosophical, but the reality is everyone has a budget!

Statistics reveal that a majority of people don’t budget. But, the reality is that everybody budgets. Not having a budget is still a budget—just not a good or helpful one! Some have a detailed plan or system they follow regularly, others may loosely try and manage their money, but most don’t really do anything more than check the balances of their accounts and wing it!

While winging it might be a nice mantra for a care-free come-as-it-may lifestyle, sooner or later the reaper of reality will require a payment; a car, schooling, house and ultimately retirement. Does having a budget mean you have to become an bookkeeper and track every deposit and expenditure? Of course not! There are many great budgeting apps that can make the process pretty easy. The first step to budgeting, like most anything is realizing that you need a budget.

Like we shared in the Budg@#*!ng blog (May 2026), budgeting is a choice to value the security and peace that comes with having control of your money. Do you value security and peace more than the uncertainty and chaos of not having a manageable budget? I was speaking with a probation officer years ago and asked, “What causes a person to change their behavior?” His answer was one word, “Pain”. What is your pain point when it comes to budgeting? Not being able to take a vacation? A missed bill payment? Bankruptcy? You don’t have to wait for disaster to strike to make a decision.

Get a pen and paper, use a spreadsheet or an app, do something! If like us, you do all of the above and find yourself growing weary of tracking everything, give 4Bite Budget a try. We have proven that you don’t have to track every penny to keep a budget and still have a feeling of freedom when it comes to spending.
