About

The 4BB Story

I had a good friend and mentor Ron who liked to say, “I’ve been rich and I’ve been poor; I prefer rich.”  He wasn’t being greedy with his proclamation, I believe he was expressing a notion of contentment with money that we should all aspire to.  If you have lived long enough, you know with certainty that money doesn’t buy happiness.  However, it is necessary for life’s essentials.  If managed well, money can also provide a few extras along the way, and allow us to help others too.

I’m not a financial guru with a bunch of letters after my name—I’m just a guy who has been through the money wringer of life and turned out better for it!  When I was 20 my money was spent a little too freely.  When I got married, we tried to control our spending and save what we could.  The rodeo of spending lasted into our 40’s and ended with a face plant in the dirt!  With a pile of debt, little income, and the realization that our situation was a result of not having a plan we could stick to, 4 Bite Budget was born.

4 Bite Budget rose like a phoenix out of the ashes of our financial struggles and the exhausting details of frustrating budgeting apps.  Using a spreadsheet and a couple bank accounts, we were able to manage our money without having to keep track of every transaction—what a relief!  We changed our focus to paying bills, spending within our means and eliminating debt.  Pretty basic really.  4 Bite Budget isn’t about getting rich, investing, or financial planning in the traditional sense–it’s a simple concept and a couple of tools that will help you manage your money, so your money doesn’t manage you!

Blessings for your journey,

Mark
